but I am uniting myself with many individual Christians throughout the world. who, though separate, we are gathered together in "Spirit" to pray to You,
and we trust O' lord Jesus,
that You are with us right now. And with your blessings
O' Lord, I place myself in Your presence, to offer a few moments of reflection, of prayer,
of thanksgiving, of worship and
of praise to You; God of Host. And I confess to You Almighty God, (and to you, my brothers and sisters) that I have sinned again through my own fault,
in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what
I have failed to do; and I ask the Blessed Mary, ever Virgin,
all the Holy Angels of the Lord and Holy Saints (and to you,
my brothers and sisters) to pray for me to the Lord our God. Amen. †
O' God, forgive me in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. †
First Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus Christ. eternal sweetness to those who love Thee, joy surpassing all joy and all desire, salvation and hope of all us poor sinners, You who hast proved that Thou hast no greater desire than to be among us men, even assuming human nature at the fullness of time for the love of us men, recall all the sufferings Thou hast endured from the instant of Thy conception, and especially during Thy Passion, as it was decreed and ordained from all eternity in the Divine plan. Remember,
O' Lord, that during the Last Supper with Thy disciples, having washed their feet, Thou gavest them Thy Most Precious Body and Blood, and while at the same time Thou didst sweetly console them, Thou didst foretold to them Thy coming Passion. Remember the sadness and bitterness which Thou didst experience in Thy Soul as Thou Thyself bore witness saying:
"My soul is sorrowful, even unto death"
Remember all the fear, anguish and pain that Thou didst suffer in Thy delicate body before the torment of Thy crucifixion, when, after having prayed three separate times, bathed in a sweat of blood, Thou wast betrayed by Judas, Thy disciple, arrested by the people of a nation, that Thou hadst chosen and elevated, accused by false witnesses, unjustly judged by three judges, during the flower of Thy youth and during the solemn Paschal season. Remember, loving Jesus, that Thou wast despoiled of Thy garments and clothed in those of derision; that Thy face and eyes were veiled, that Thou was buffeted, crowned with thorns, a reed placed in Thy hands, that Thou was crushed with blows and overwhelmed with affronts and outrages. In memory of all these pain and sufferings which Thou didst endure (by our sins) before Thy passion on the life giving cross, grant me (if it be Your will) before my death, a true contrition, a sincere and entire confession made worthy satisfaction and the remission
of all my awful sins.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Second Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, true liberty of angels, paradise of delights, remember all the horror and sadness which Thou didst endure (for us) when Thy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded Thee, and by thousands of insults, spits, blows, lacerations and other unheard-of-cruelties, tormented Thee at will. In consideration of these torments and insulting words, I beseech Thee, O' my loving Savior; to deliver me from all my enemies, both visible and invisible, and to bring me,
under Thy protection with Thy precious blood... to the perfection of eternal salvation.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Third Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, creator of heaven and earth whom nothing can encompass or limit, Thou who dost enfold and holds all under Thy loving power, remember the very bitter pain Thou didst suffer when the Romans (and us sinners) nailed Thy sacred hands and feet to the cross, by blow after blow with big blunt nails, and not finding Thee in a pitiable enough state to satisfy their (our) rage, we enlarged Thy wounds (through our sins) and added pain to pain, and with indescribable cruelty we stretched Thy body on the cross, pulled Thee from all sides, thus dislocating Thy limbs. I beg of Thee, O' my loving Jesus, by the memory of this most holy and most loving suffering of the cross, to grant me the grace to fear Thee and to love Thee forever!
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Fourth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, heavenly physician, raised aloft on the cross in order that through Thy wounds, ours might be healed, remember the bruises which Thou didst suffer and the weakness of all Thy members which were distended to such a degree that never was there pain like unto Thine. From the crown of Thy head to the soles of Thy feet, there was not one spot on Thy body that was not in torment, and yet, forgetting all Thy sufferings, Thou didst not cease to pray to Thy Heavenly Father for Thy enemies (and us sinners), saying:
"Father forgive them, for they know not what they do"
through this great mercy, and in memory of this loving suffering. Grant that the remembrance of Thy most bitter passion may effect in us a perfect contrition and the remission of all our miserable sins.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Fifth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, mirror of eternal splendor, remember the sadness which Thou experienced, when contemplating in the light of Thy divinity, the predestination of those (of us) who would be saved by the merits of Thy sacred passion, Thou didst see at the same time, the great multitude of reprobates who would be damned for their sins, and Thou didst complain bitterly of those hopeless, lost and unfortunate sinners. Through the abyss of compassion and pity, and especially through the goodness which Thou displayed to the good thief when Thou said'st to him:
"this day (I say), thou shalt be with Me in paradise"
I beg of Thee, O' sweet loving Jesus, that at the hour of my death, Thou wilt also
show unto me mercy.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Sixth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, beloved and most desirable King, remember all the grief Thou didst suffer, when naked and like a common criminal, Thou was fastened and raised on the cross, when all Thy relatives and friends abandoned Thee, except Thy beloved mother, who remained close to Thee during Thy agony and whom Thou didst entrust to Thy faithful disciple when Thou said'st to Mary; Thy mother;
"Woman, behold thy son(s) [the believers]"
and to John [and to us]
"Son(s), behold thy Mother [Mary]"
I beg of Thee O' my Savior, by the sword of sorrow which pierced the soul of Thy holy mother; Mary, to have compassion on me in all my afflictions and tribulations, both corporal and spiritual, and to assist me in all my trials, and especially at the hour of my death.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Seventh Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, inexhaustible fountain of compassion, who by a profound gesture of love, said from the cross:
"I thirst"
and who suffered from the thirst for the salvation of the human race. I beg of Thee
O' my Savior, to inflame in our hearts the desire to tend toward perfection in all our acts; and to extinguish in us the concupiscence of the flesh and the ardor of worldly desires.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Eighth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, sweetness of hearts, delight of the spirit,
by the bitterness of the vinegar and gall which Thou didst taste on the cross for love of us,
grant us the grace to receive worthily Thy precious body
and blood during our life and
at the hour of our death, that they may serve as a remedy of consolation for our souls.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Ninth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus! royal virtue, joy of the mind, recall the pain Thou didst endure when plunged in an ocean of bitterness at the approach of death, insulted, and outraged by the Jews, Thou didst cry out in a loud voice that Thou was abandoned by Thy Father, saying:
"My God, My God,
why hast Thou forsaken Me?"
Through this anguish,
I beg of Thee, O' my Savior,
not to abandon me in the
terrors and pains of my death.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Tenth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, who art the beginning and end of all things, life and virtue, remember that for our sake Thou was plunged in an abyss of suffering from the soles of Thy feet to the crown of Thy head. In consideration of the enormity of Thy wounds, teach me to keep, through pure love, Thy commandments,
whose way is wide and easy for those who love Thee.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Eleventh Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, deep abyss of mercy,
I beg of Thee, in memory of Thy wounds which penetrated to the very marrow of Thy bones and to the depth of Thy being, to draw me, a miserable sinner, overwhelmed by my offenses, away from sin and to hide
me from Thy face justly
irritated against me, hide me
in Thy wounds, until Thy
anger and just indignation
shall have passed away.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Twelfth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, mirror of truth, symbol of unity, line of charity, remember the multitude of wounds with which Thou was covered from head to foot, torn and reddened by the spilling of Thy adorable blood. O' great and universal pain which Thou didst suffer in Thy virginal Flesh for love of us. O' Sweetest Jesus, what is there that Thou could'st have done for us which Thou hast not done. May the fruit of Thy sufferings be renewed in my soul by the faithful remembrance of Thy passion, and may Thy love increase in my heart each day, until I see Thee in eternity,
Thou who art the treasury of every real good and every joy, which I beg Thee to grant me,
O' Sweetest Jesus, in heaven.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Thirteenth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, strong lion, Immortal and Invincible king, remember the pain Thou didst endure when all Thy strength, both moral and physical, was entirely exhausted, Thou didst bow Thy head, saying:
"It is consummated"
through this anguish and grief,
I beg of Thee Lord Jesus,
to have mercy on me at the hour of my death when my mind
will be greatly troubled and
my soul will be in anguish.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Fourteenth Prayer;
Our Father; Hail Mary;
O' Jesus, only Son of the Father, splendor and figure of His substance, remember the simple and humble recommendation Thou didst make of Thy soul to Thy Eternal Father, saying:
"Father, into Thy hands I commend My Spirit"
And with Thy Body all torn, and Thy Heart Broken, and the bowels of Thy Mercy open to redeem us, Thou expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.
O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us, and by this precious death, I beg of Thee O King of Saints, comfort me and help me to resist the devil, the flesh and the world,
so that being dead to the world I may live for Thee alone.
I beg of Thee at the hour of my death to receive me, a pilgrim and an exile returning to Thee.
I ask this in Your name,
- Jesus. Amen. †
Fifteenth Prayer; Our Father; Hail Mary; O' Jesus, true and fruitful vine. Remember the abundant outpouring of precious blood which Thou didst so generously shed from Thy sacred body, pressed down and running over as the grapes in a wine press. From Thy side, pierced with a lance by a soldier, O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You! O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
O Blood and Water issued forth until there was not left in Thy Body a single drop, and finally, like a bundle of myrrh lifted to the top of the Cross Thy delicate Flesh was destroyed, the very Substance of Thy Body withered, and the marrow of Thy bones dried up. Through this bitter Passion and through the outpouring of Thy Precious Blood, I beg of Thee, O' Sweet Jesus, to receive my soul when I am in my death agony. O' Sweet Jesus, Pierce my heart so that my tears of penitence and love will be my bread day and night; may I be converted entirely to Thee, may my heart be Thy perpetual resting place, may my conversation be pleasing to Thee, and may the end of my life be so praiseworthy that I may merit Heaven and there with Thy saints, praise Thee forever. I ask this in Your name, - Jesus. Amen. †
***
Let us pray...
You, O' Jesus, the Lord of Creation, stood alone, mocked and suffering in the courts of King Herod and Pontius Pilate.
†
None spoke in Your defense.
None came to Your aid. You, Master of all the world were scorned, insulted, bloody and abused.
†
Let my life and love in some infinitesimal way atone for the atrocities and wounds You suffered for all our sins: for the agonizing pain, the gross indignities, the outrageous mockery, the heartless cruelty.
†
Tortured Jesus,
please forgive all mortals
for the crimes still committed daily against You, and against
the least of Your children, by the high and mighty, and the arrogant and powerful, the cowardly and viscous, and the weak of will who know virtue but give in to temptation.
†
I pray in Your Holy Name,
for all those who sin this day:
please pardon them.
†
Please forgive me, too, Lord,
for my own sins, and especially
for every injury I have ever inflicted now regretted or
long forgotten on any person, intentionally, or unintentionally,
purposefully or carelessly, by my deed, my failure, my word, my neglect or my unkind thought.
†
Please in Your Divine mercy now give those I have injured some radiant special blessing of grace and happiness today, be they now in this world or the next.
†
Let my days and disappointments atone for these many grievous faults of mine and also in some small way for the insults, injustices, crimes and sins committed by others
against the weakest and most vulnerable of your children
and servants here on earth.
†
Let me and all who read these words know and remember always that a Day of Reckoning
will surely come when all our hidden sins will be revealed
and judged. Punishments will certainly follow.
†
Forgive me Lord, as You forgive all those who have committed
and will commit crimes against You, but who are sincerely penitent, for we truly do not realize fully what we do.
†
Strengthen my resolution
to be a better person. I place my faith, my trust, my love in You, Who suffered for our sins,
Eternal Father, turn away Your angry gaze from our guilty people whose face has become unsightly in Your eyes. Look instead upon the Face of Your beloved Son, in Whom You are well pleased. We now offer You this Holy Face, covered with shame and disfigured by bloody bruises, in reparation for the crimes of our age, in order to appease Your anger, justly provoked against us. Because Your Divine Son, our Redeemer, has taken upon His Head all the sins of His members, that they might be spared, we now beg You, Eternal Father, to grant us mercy. Amen.
†
Eternal Father, we offer You the Holy Face of Jesus, covered with blood, sweat, dust, and spittle, in reparation for our sins and the sins of the whole world.
†
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Adorable Face of Thy Beloved Son, for the honor and glory of Thy Holy Name, for the conversion of sinners and for the salvation of the dying.
†
I Salute You, I adore You, and I love You, oh adorable Face of my Beloved Jesus, as the noble stamp of the Divinity! Completely surrendering my soul to You, I most humbly beg You to stamp this seal upon us all, so that the Image of God may once more be reproduced by its imprint in our souls. Amen.
†
O' Eternal Father, since it has pleased our Divine Savior to reveal to mankind in our present century the power residing in His Holy Face, we now avail ourselves of this treasure in our great needs. Since our Savior Himself promised that by offering to You, oh Eternal Father, the Holy Face disfigured in the Passion, we can procure the settlement of all our affairs, and that nothing whatsoever will be refused us, we now come before Your Throne.
†
Offering to You, O' God, this adorable Countenance, disfigured with painful bruises and covered with shame and confusion, we beg through the merits of this Holy Face to obtain these, our pressing needs.
†
Grant us pardon, Eternal Father, for the worst crimes of our age, which are atheism, blasphemy, and the desecration of Your holy days. May this offering of the Holy Face of our Savior before Your throne obtain for us deliverance from these evils.
†
Send us, O' God, many vocations to the priesthood and to the religious life, so that by their prayers, their works, and their sacrifices, they may spread the blessings of Your Church and confound Your enemies. Amen.
†
Eternal Father, we offer You the Adorable Face of Your well-beloved Son, for the Honor and Glory of Your Holy Name, and for the salvation of our country (mention your country's name) Amen.
†
O' Almighty and eternal God, look upon the Face of Your Son Jesus. We present it to You
with confidence to implore
Your pardon. The All-Merciful Advocate opens His mouth to plead our cause; hear His cries, behold His tears, O' God,
and through His infinite merits hearken to Him when He intercedes for us poor and miserable sinners.
†
O' Lord Jesus Christ,
in presenting ourselves before Your adorable Face, to ask of
You the graces of which we stand most in need, we beseech You, above all, to give us that interior disposition of never refusing
at any time to do what You require of us by Your holy commandments and Your
Divine inspirations.
†
O' good Jesus, Who has said: “Ask and you shall receive,
Seek and you shall find,
Knock and it shall be opened
to you.” Grant us, O' Lord,
that faith which obtains all,
or supply in us what may be deficient. Grant us, by the pure effect of Your charity and for Your eternal glory,
the graces which we need and which we look for from Your infinite mercy, particularly:
( mention the favor you desire )
Amen.
†
Be merciful to us, O' God, and reject not our prayers when, amid our afflictions, we call upon Your holy Name and seek with love and confidence Your adorable Face. Amen.
May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible, and ineffable Name of God be forever praised, blessed, adored, loved, and glorified, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth,* by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.
